2022-2023 Ashley Gaubert
Ms. Gaubert is well-known at BRCVPA for her warm smile and kind heart. She teaches 4th Grade Math, and has been in the same classroom since 2017 when she was Ms. Boudreaux's student teacher! It was there where she developed her passion from teaching math under her beloved mentor. After she graduated from college, she worked as a part-time teacher with Ms. Boudreaux until Spring of 2019, and became the full-time 4th grade math teacher in Fall of 2020.
Ms. Gaubert is from Lafayette, Louisiana. She has one younger sister, Jessica, who is her favorite person in the world! She moved to Baton Rouge to attend LSU. She has been married to her husband, Trevor since 2019, and they have a cat named Scraps. Ms. Gaubert loves to garden, bake, and volunteer as a CASA (Court-Appointed Special Advocate) in her spare time. She loves her BRCVPA family, and thinks she has the best job in the world!
We are so proud of Ms. Gaubert, and thrilled that she is going to represent BRCVPA as our 2022-2023 Teacher of the Year!
Here are some of the wonderful things parents, students, and teachers had to say about Mrs. Gaubert:

My child hated Math and use to struggle this year alone is now his favorite and one of his highest grades in 4th grade which is a 96% A. She is very deserving of this award this year." - Christina, parent

"Ms. Gaubert really cares about her students, and she is so enthusiastic about teaching them math. Both of my daughters love her. Ms. Gaubert has been great about working with their different learning styles. We love how she incorporates art into math - using animals for place value projects, Piet Mondrian for area & perimeter, etc.. She's been so helpful and communicative with us as parents, too. If she hasn't been teacher of the year before, she should be this year :)" - Jennifer, parent
"I think Mrs. Gaubert should because she is so nice and she would be a great representation/mascot of Baton Rouge Center for Visual and Performing Arts!" - Chloe, student
"She is so nice and she has a warm smile!!!" - Edmund, student

Parents love and appreciate her effective communication skills, students love her silly jokes and her colleagues love that she is one of the first ones to express her gratitude. I love you BIG Ms. Gaubert! I am so proud of you!" - Ms. Boudreaux, Assistant Principal

2021-2022 Jordan Malensek
Congratulations to our 2021-2022 Teacher of the Year, Ms. Jordan Malensek! Ms. Malensek is a beloved figure at BRCVPA. She currently teaches 3rd Grade ELA, but she joined us as a 5th Grade Math Student Teacher named Ms. Berry! She moved to 4th Grade ELA for her second semester of student teaching. Immediately after she graduated, we knew we better snag her quickly before another school did! She stepped right in as a Kindergarten Teacher for a semester, and the kids loved her! In fact, some of those very students are BRCVPA 5th Graders today. Ms. Malensek taught 2nd Grade Science for 2 years before moving to 3rd Grade. Although she loves ELA, 2nd Grade Science was her favorite!
Ms. Malensek is from Alexandria, and has a younger brother named John. She went to LSU in Baton Rouge where she was the Vice President of her sorority. While at LSU she took dance classes from a former Saintsation, and brought those dance skills to BRCVPA Summer Camp, where she taught dance. She is married to a wonderful man named Daniel, and is a dog mom to Astro.
We are incredibly proud to call her our own, and we look forward to many more years with her at BRCVPA!

2020-2021 Kelly Adkinson
Congratulations to our 2020-2021 Teacher of the Year, Ms. Kelly Adkinson! If you don't already know, Ms. Adkinson, often referred to by students as "Ms. A," is our phenomenal Visual Art Teacher. She is a beloved and positive force on our campus, and is responsible for many of the beautiful decorations and sets seen at BRCVPA!
Ms. Adkinson began her teaching career in the fall of 2013 at Twin Oaks Elementary School as a 3rd Grade ELA, Math, Science and Social Studies Teacher. She did that for 2 years, then taught ELA and Social Studies only the following year. She came to BRCVPA in 2016-2017 as a 4th Grade Science and Social Studies Teacher. During that time, she wowed her students with excellent instruction, fabulous classroom decor, and over the top costumes...everyone from Ben Franklin to Bob Ross!
While teaching Science and Social Studies, she pursued her Visual Arts Ancillary Certification, and made the transition to the Visual Arts teacher in 2019-2020.
Ms. Adkinson's favorite thing to teach is children! She is very passionate about teaching visual art because she is able to integrate ALL subjects into her lessons while inspiring young artists. Not only can she integrate each subject area, but she is happy for the opportunity to help her fellow teachers by presenting their content in a visual and project-based way to help them make connections across content areas.
It is Ms. Adkinson's belief that teaching a child a new skill that they have never seen before can often be the tricky part of teaching, but inspiring them to be lifelong learners and explorers who find wonder at every path is the the rewarding part! She says that college is where she learned what a teacher does, but BRCVPA is where she learned how to inspire children, and for that she will be forever grateful.
We are so grateful to have Ms. Adkinson as a part of our Faculty and Staff! Please give her the biggest air hug when you see her on campus!!!!
