Due to inclement weather forecasts and in the interest of safety for our students and staff, the East Baton Rouge Parish School System has made the decision to cancel classes districtwide on Wednesday, Sept. 11, through Thursday, Sept. 12.
The safety and well-being of our students, employees and their families remain our top priorities, and we believe that this measure is necessary given the predicted severe weather conditions. We encourage all families to take precautionary measures and to stay informed through reliable weather updates. Please note that all after-school activities and events scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday week will also be canceled. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this time. The district will adhere to normal dismissal procedures on Tuesday, all after-school activities are canceled for Tuesday afternoon (THIS INCLUDES BRCVPA EXTENDED DAY). District staff will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as needed. School will resume as usual on Friday, Sept. 13, 2024, unless otherwise communicated. Thank you for your attention, and please stay safe. Visit ebrschools.org/weather to learn more

Ms. LaFont's class had science in the garden this week. They got to look at milkweed plants where a 🐛caterpillar🐛 has already made a home! After that, they smelled herbs like oregano and basil. Finally, they planted sweet potato slips. Many thanks to Ms. Fran Martin, and 💜LSU Master Gardener💛 who has partnered with Ms. LaFont to bring our BRCVPA school garden to life!
We had an AMAZING turnout at the 1st PTO Meeting and Arts Curriculum Night last night. 5th Grade is tonight at 5:00 p.m. Please mark your calendar for your child's grade level and make plans to attend! You will get tons of information about what your kids will be learning, how they will be assessed, and more! See you there.
Attention 4th and 5th Grade Parents:
We are currently planning our annual Disney Trip! Please join us for an Informational Meeting this Wednesday, August 21st at 6 pm. Link: bit.ly/brcvpaDisney2025 The meeting will be recorded and placed on the website. Website: BRCVPA Disney Trip Good morning! BRCVPA is fortunate to have 4 Collection Point Buses at 3 Collection Points (Goodwood Library-2 , Southeast Middle-1 , Carver Library-1).
Thanks to all of the parents who have successfully navigated all of the communication platforms at BRCVPA! We appreciate you, and we acknowledge that it is a LOT!
We hope that once everything is set up and everyone is connected, our communications will reach the right people, every time! Here is a review of everything we have, its purpose, and how to connect:
Have a Great Baton Rouge Center Day! From BRCVPA to the Olympics in Paris. BRCVPA alum, Kenneth Hilliard, had the opportunity to design an Olympic uniform via a contest for the United States pair of Taryn Kloth and Kristen Nuss. Taryn and Kristen took to the sand on Thursday, August 1 in front of the Eiffel Tower wearing the uniforms he designed in a 2-1 victory over China. He was a talented art student at BRCVPA, and graduated from LSU in 2020 with a degree in graphic design. #ebrschools #180DaysofExcellence #BRCVPA #EBRMagnet EBR Schools
We have successfully updated the default dismissal methods of almost all of our students in School Dismissal Manager.
For efficiency, we will not be sending another Google Form. If we do not know your child's normal (default) method of transportation, we will contact you tomorrow. Otherwise, ALL EXCEPTIONS SHOULD BE MADE IN THE SCHOOL DISMISSAL MANAGER APP. This means, if your child's normal method is bus, but you want them to go home via carpool tomorrow, you must log in to the app and make the change/exception. If you do not have access to the app, please email [email protected]. Thank you for partnering with us to make dismissal safe and efficient! |
Download the EBR School System App from the App Store. Skip the registration part and go to additional apps. Select BRCVPA from the dropdown. Menu. Be sure to enable push notifications!
