BROTHERHOOD SISTERHOOD AWARDS 2022

On Friday February 25, 2022 we held our annual Brotherhood, Sisterhood Award ceremony. These awards recognize one faculty member, one staff member, one male student, and one female student, who exemplify what it means to be a good citizen. These 4 honorees actively serve our school community, lead and inspire others, break personal barriers, and lead exemplary lives, all towards the goal of equality and togetherness. Now, more than ever, we need this award and awareness to assist in recognizing all the good happening in our community. Our honorees this year were: 

5th Grade Sisterhood - Brooklyn Spooner
Brooklyn was nominated by the faculty and staff. Some of the things nominators had to say about her include: 

• She is an energetic, sweet, and smart young woman. She is kind to everyone around her and is a hard worker!
• This student is so wonderful to have in class! She gives 100% of her effort everyday. I will never forget how much she was able to learn about tap dance in a hybrid class. It was truly impressive!
• She is the sweetest! She is always kind, respectful, and polite.
• She exudes excellence in all she does. She is responsible, driven, hard working, and helpful to her classmates. She always goes above and beyond!

5th Grade Brotherhood - DanielJake Nganga
DanielJake was nominated because: 

• He is such a sweet young man. He works SO hard and is never in trouble! He is helpful, respectful, and kind to everyone. He's a student that does what he's supposed to and in return doesn't stand out often. He deserves this.
• He is sweet, polite, and hard-working. He is kind to his classmates, teachers, and younger students. He is always willing to help out, and has a great attitude!
• He is one of the sweetest kids I have ever taught. He is always willing to help anyone. He is kind, courteous, and diligent in his studies. I have enjoyed having him in my class. 
• He is the nicest boy! He is helpful and kind in class and has a great sense of humor on top of it. 
• He is a hard worker in my class. He is always polite, respectful and willing to help others. 

Staff Sisterhood - Barbara Longeway
Here is a little bit about why she was chosen: 

• Ms. Longeway is very friendly. She always says hello and has a smile on her face. She is great with the kids. She is so gentle and loving! She has kind eyes and I would like to give her a hug.
• I don't know if I can say enough nice things about Ms. Longeway. I liked her the instant I met her, and I could tell that she was an amazing teacher who puts kids first. She is willing to help out any and everywhere she can, and always has something positive to say. She is a hard worker and is encouraging to everyone around her. We are so lucky she found us!!!
• Mrs Longeway is always happy to help no matter what the task is. She is a joy to be around & loves coming to BRCVPA everyday with a smile ready to take on anything! She is a patient, loving, & humble person.
• There are not enough words to describe the loving support of Mrs. Longeaway. She has been an amazing mentor while also being my biggest supporter. The children ADORE her and so do the teachers. She is simply the best.

Faculty Sisterhood - Ashley Gaubert
Mrs. Gaubert was chosen because: 

• She is always kind and helpful. She radiates positivity and always has a smile on her face. She is as sweet as a chocolate chip cookie and she's my birthday twin. 
• She is a breath of fresh air. She constantly has a smile on her face and is willing to help in any way she can.
• Always pleasant, all the kids like her, responsible A+ teacher, Works well with others
• She is always willing to do anything that is asked of her. She is a picture book example of Calm, Cool, & Collected. : )
• She might be the sweetest person I have ever met. She expresses gratitude on a regular basis and knows how to make people feel loved and appreciated. She is always willing to help anyone who needs it, and takes on additional responsibilities to help the team. We are so lucky to have her on our staff!
• She is so sweet, kind and diligent. She has a very quiet and calm disposition. She always has a sunny disposition. She is always willing to step in and help in anyway that she can. I enjoy working with her!  She is a ray of sunshine everyday!
• She is always so supportive of the arts staff. She is excited to help when she can and so receptive to all of the crazy schedule changes that happen with 4th Grade Original Musical.
• She is always such a joy to work with. She is sweet, kind and dedicated to her students. When working with her, it is always evident how much care and effort she puts into everything she does.

Our guest speaker for the event was Ms. Rodneyna Hart. Ms. Hart has worked as an artist, board member, exhibitions manager, preparator, and curator for various galleries and museums throughout Louisiana. Advocating for more inclusive and intersectional cultural spaces, Hart created pop-up art events open to all with an educational component providing resources for emerging artists. She reestablished and served as Executive Director for the not-for-profit organization Culture Candy. She served on the state arts Council and was a Baton Rouge Business Reports 40 Under Forty. January of 2019, Ms. Hart accepted the position of Division Director for the Louisiana State Museum overseeing the four regional museums.
