Our phenomenal 4th grade students took a moment to stop and smell the satsumas in Ms. Adkinson's art class last week!
Students were able to combine science and visual art when studying the physical properties of the satsumas given to them by the amazing BRCVPA cafeteria staff, (led by Mrs. Bridget Moore) via the "Seeds to Success" program. Once students identified the physical properties of their satsumas, they began sculpting their own clay models of this tangy favorite! They compared both scale and form of their sculptures with the real fruit, followed by using their paintbrush handles to create the peel-like texture in the clay to bring it to life. Students will soon be able to paint their satsumas using the colors observed on their still-life models, leaving them with a sweet reminder of how much we all grow and change along the way.
